SPA & HOT TUB RELOCATION SERVICES

As well as helping our customers with the installation, maintenance and repair of their hot tubs and spas, we also help them move them. There can be many reasons for a spa or hot tub to need moving. Irrespective of the circumstances, we’re here to help! Our spa movement services will help ensure that your spa or hot tub is moved safely, securely and installed as quickly as possible.

SPA Movement Considerations

If you are looking to move your hot tub, there are a number of considerations to think about before you call us in.

If you are moving a hot tub already in use, it will have to be disconnected; and at its new location the electrical supply should be connected ahead of time. Surrey and Sussex Hot Tubs includes qualified engineers in its team, ready to help with these pre-move plans.
Access

There needs to be a clear path for us to move your hot tub along. The spas are usually on a cart around three metres wide, so please ensure there’s a flat surface with plenty of turning space for it to get through. If you’re unable to clear all obstacles, let us know and we’ll send a few extra people along to help navigate them.

Some quick guidelines for easy movement are as follows:

  • The cart your spa will arrive on will be around 3600mm x 820mm, and needs at least 160mm of ground clearance.
  • Please avoid or clear routes that include low roofs, trees or protruding pipes that the cart may get stuck on.
  • Double check that you won’t need to remove any gates or fences. If we’re unable to move your spa into place, the visit will still be chargeable.
  • The foundation you choose for your new spa should be solid, weight-bearing, and with a completely flat surface – concrete is ideal. If your spa sits at all unevenly then the damage could occur.

If a path like this can’t be cleared, it’s possible to hire a crane – ask and we should be able to recommend a good local company.

Although the cart size above is standard, certain hot tubs can require larger equipment. Check its dimensions or ask us if you’re worried you might have to clear more space.

ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS

The installation of any new hot tub needs to meet the following electrical regulations and requirements:

  • The spa’s power source must be permanently connected by a hardwire. The law requires that all installation work must be carried out by a qualified electrician. All of Surrey and Sussex Hot Tubs electricians are fully qualified and able to assist with this stage of the setup process.
  • If you intend on installing the electrical supply yourself, be aware that any work done by persons unregistered with a government regulatory body must be inspected by an NICEIC or ECA member.
  • It is also necessary that all electronics connected to your spa are protected by a Residual Current Device (RCD). These devices are rated according to how much power they are able to handle. Check how much power your spa is drawing and match the device accordingly.
  • You will also need a lockable isolator, two meters from the hot tub. This will have to be installed by a technician, who will also be able to recommend the correct isolator to purchase.

If you have any questions – or would like us to send a technician to help with any of this – please just ask, we’ll be more than happy to help.
